For those children leaving us in July, I hope that you have all now received confirmation of your child’s school place for September 2022. If you have not submitted your school application for any reason, please note that for late applications received up to 26 April, decisions will be sent to parents on 6 June. For late applications received up to 27 May, decisions will be sent to parents on 15 July. Applications received after 27 May will be processed in due course and the Admissions team will aim to advise parents in writing of the outcome before September.
I am sure your allocated school will be in touch with you in the next few weeks to advise of the next steps for your child’s transition into school. If you have any questions about your allocated school or the starting school process, please speak to me, the Admissions Team or your allocated School.
Please see the information below if you have yet to make your application:
For parents with children born between 1st September 2017 and 31st August 2018
For those parents and carers with children who turn four on or before 31st August 2022, the time has come for you to think about making your Starting School Application for Primary/Infant School. Most four year old children join the Reception Year of Primary/Infant School the September after their fourth birthday. You do have until 15th January 2022 to submit your application but please ensure it is done prior to this date or you will be deemed to have made a “late application” and you may not get your choice of school.
Please see the Admissions Team’s presentation for more information on how to apply: How to Apply for a Starting School Place 2022 Information slides
All the information on how to complete and submit your starting school application is also available on the Luton Borough Council website Admissions page at:
On this page you will find a link to make your online application, the School Admissions Checklist and the How to Apply for a School Place Guide, so please do take the time to have a look.
Please do your research and choose your School carefully, based on what is important to you. Please contact your choice of Schools direct for further information and to book a visit to have a look round. Individual School websites also contain useful information and it is also useful to look at the School’s latest Ofsted report, please follow the link to the Ofsted website at: https://reports.ofsted.gov.uk/
When you make your application you will be asked to give three School choices in order so please think carefully about which schools you would like to apply for and why. If you are unsure which school catchment you live in, you can also check this on the Admissions website. If you choose to apply for a school out of your catchment area there is no guarantee that you will be allocated a place so please think carefully about why you are applying for a particular school. For details on how School places are allocated, please refer to the How to Apply for a School Place Guide using the link above.
You can change your application once it has been submitted but you must remember to submit your application again to enforce any changes. The Admissions Team will use the latest applications submitted as at 15th January 2022 so your application MUST be submitted prior to this date. If you fail to submit your application for any reason by 15th January, your application will be deemed to be a “late application” and will not be included in the first round of allocated places, this could affect which School you are later allocated.
If you need any further support on what you need to do when choosing a school or making an application, please speak to me. Please be assured that I am here to support you in any way I can.
